Grief is an undeniable part of the human experience—a journey through loss, pain, and profound emotions. It is a reality that can be harsh, overwhelming, and at times, seemingly unbearable. At our lowest moments, grief can cast a dark shadow over every aspect of our lives, leaving us feeling isolated, shattered, and adrift. Often times we don't simply experience one loss. History has proven that we often lose many other people in during our grief journey. You may find that friends, family, coworkers etc also take a step back from being present in our lives. This can easily turn grief into complicated grief if not navigated with care and proper support.
Grief does not discriminate. It can be triggered by the loss of a loved one, the end of a significant relationship, the loss of a job or pet, or even the shattering of dreams and aspirations. It doesn't adhere to a timeline or follow a linear path. Grief can ebb and flow, hitting us unexpectedly at the most inconvenient moments, leaving us feeling helpless and vulnerable.
Grief demands our attention, whether we are ready or not. It forces us to confront our deepest fears, face our susceptibility, and navigate the complexities of loss. It challenges our beliefs, tests our resilience, and shakes the very foundations of our being. It can leave us questioning our purpose, our identity, and the meaning of life itself.

2. Focus: The second fundamental emphasizes the power of focus. Amidst the chaos of grief, it is crucial to redirect our attention towards what we can control versus what we can't. We can't change our circumstances, but we can change our system of thinking around it. By intentionally redirecting our choices by learning the right questions to ask ourselves, our can gain control of our focus creating space for healing and growth.
3. Meaning: Finding meaning in the midst of loss is the most critical part of the healing process. The third fundamental encourages us to seek and create meaning from our experiences and what live means to us thereafter. Through understanding what our limiting beliefs, neurological associations, identity and overall personal philosophies mean, we can discover profound lessons and purpose that guide us towards a renewed sense of meaning in life.
4. Emotions: Grief is a complex tapestry of emotions, often overwhelming and difficult to navigate let alone understand. The fourth fundamental invites us to acknowledge, honor, and process our emotions but also how to decide which emotions we allow to take over the vast majority of our day. The quality of our decisions is the direct link to the quality of our lives. Deciding what emotion we choose to allow to fester is a huge part of the this process. By creating a safe space for emotional expression, we can release the weight of grief and gradually restore emotional well-being, fostering resilience and growth.
5. Action: Taking intentional action is the fifth fundamental that propels us forward on our grief journey. It encourages us to translate our insights, newfound focus, meaning, and emotional healing into tangible steps.
